After narrowly beating favourites Issachar in their Semi-Final, Asher tribe were feeling grateful just to make the final. Facing Zebulun Tribe who needed a penalty shootout to make the final, Asher were well matched.
Lead by Matt, Talaiasi and a fired up Mr Sextus, Asher tribe approached the game with determination and good organisation.
The game was a deadlock at half time, with Luke holding Zebulun’s defensive line well, and hitting long balls for Olivia, Mr Doody or Jerome to chase.
Early in the second, some lovely interplay between Matt, Matthew and Manu, Asher managed to create an overlap for a beautiful team goal. Zebulun tribe struck back right away with rampant celebrations from the ever competitive Mr Doody.
Fan Favourite, Ms McCauley put in a good shift for Zebulun tribe on the wing (next to her fan group).
Another nerve racking penalty shootout was required to find the winner. Zebulun took an early 3:1 lead through calm heads and a ‘hard and low’ strategy. However It was Asher tribe that won, thanks to the strength of Conrad, and good placement by Mr Sextus.
“The boys put in a great effort. They showed a lot of guts and determination. We came out and got the win. Shout out to Matthew, our captain” reported Asher Tribe midfielder, and Head Boy Conrad. “Also full credit to Petra Brookie for dropping Mr Sextus in a beautiful tackle.”
