A New Term Dawns

Dawn of a new term at Cornerstone

2021 brings about several changes for our school.

  • Cornerstone held its first start of year pōwhiri welcoming Manuhiri, which are the new staff and students. Our school Kaumātua helped us formally welcome and pray for these Manuhiri. The new entrant class, and other new students maintain our capped roll at 580 students.
  • New teachers Nicola Waitoa and Casey Roussouw start in Year 2 and 6 respectively.
  • New bell-times and a new timetable come into place. School starts at 9am, and finishes at 3pm for all students.
  • Many students’ Officemax stationery packs have been delayed. Teachers are aware of this and planning lessons around it.
  • Secondary classrooms have been organised by age. From G block with year 7s and 8s, through to L-block, where Year 12s and 13s are based.
  • Once again the 2020 NCEA cohort set a high standard of grades.
  • Most NCEA students earned Merit or Excellence endorsements, despite the interruptions brought by Covid lockdowns.

Through these changes and successes each year brings, our vision as a school continues to be confident followers of Jesus Christ, equipped and inspired to creatively impact our world.
