Colourful Cross-Country Clears Covid Closures

In a Cornerstone first, a 2.4km track was marked on our own property to run the school Cross Country this year. The move allowed plenty of social distancing from the public, as well as classes to cheer each other on.

Issachar tribe got off to a strong lead after the senior races slightly ahead of Naphtali tribe. After the very last race of the day, Naphtali just managed to overtake Issachar to hold the lead. However the Aroha Team races were delayed due to bad weather, so the competition isn’t quite over.

The first Cross-Country races were run a week early to catch Year 13 Missions Trip students before their trip. Rebecca Mark won the senior girls’ race at a canter. First XI Hockey co-captain Jono McDonald won the Senior boys’ race. Thanks to big efforts from their Tribe Captains, Issachar tribe holds the early lead ahead of Naphtali then Asher Tribe.

Some students ran a bit less competitively – aiming for repeated doses of colour. Other students showed the school value of kindness by ensuring they finished in a dead tie with their friends.
