Asher Tribe Win Secondary Athletics

As a Covid adjustment, Athletics was held at lunchtimes this year over Term 1 and 2. Students opted into their preferred events, rewarding those tribes with high levels of participation. Naphtali tribe held a slender lead over Asher heading into this week’s final event: double point sprint relays. Run on the new artificial turf, Issachar tribe made a strong statement winning both of the junior 100m relays. Asher took out the Senior girls race before Intermediate boys Jaiden and Griffin lead Issachar to win the premier boys race. Adding the relays onto the other track and field events saw Asher tribe overtake Naphtali for first overall, with Issachar narrowly behind them.

The ever consistent Petra Brookie won the Senior Girls athletic champion for Zebulun tribe. Asher Tribe leader and First Fifteen Captain Talaiasi Muli won the Senior Boys athletics champion.

Mrs Fletcher, teacher in charge of Asher Tribe, wanted to thank all the students who participated and gave their best effort. “It was a team effort for us to win our first ever Secondary Athletics Shield.”
